Tom Wopat Fan Club to be honored in D.C.

Originally published September 29, 2009

COOTER COUNTY (Y!SN) In a surprising move, the Tom Wopat Fan Club of the FFF will be honored by President Obama at an official ceremony this Thursday at the White House.

Obama briefly mentioned this meeting during his weekly radio address.

"It's an honor to bring to the White House one of the strongest symbols of excellence in the FFF league, the 'Gold Standard' if you will" Obama said. "As soon as I took office I wanted to bring in and meet some FFF people, and who better to start with than Coach Pool? I'm a big fan."

Starting around 11:00 am, Obama will present Pool with a Presidential Medal of Honor, symbolizing the Fan Club's consistent level of awesomeness, as well as several Presidential Physical Fitness awards that Pool plans to hand out to some of his players.

There will then be a short address by Obama, followed by comments from Pool as well as team owner William Clay Haas. Pictures will then be taken for a short period, followed by a tour of the White House.

Pool also requested that the President's staff take several hours and re-create some of his favorite scenes from the television show "The West Wing." It is not confirmed at this time whether the staff will cooperate with that request.
